Effective Speaking

es.jpg
Annually, the Air Cadet League sponsors an Effective Speaking Competition.  These are held at the local, regional, provincial and national levels.   The winner of each level becomes one of the contestants at the next level.

The competition is open to all Air Cadets who have not aged out up to and including the day of return to unit from the National Effective Speaking Competition.  The National winner will not be eligible to compete again.

The competition is based on two speeches by each contestant: a prepared speech and an impromptu speech.  The Cadets will be ranked based on the total scores of both speeches.

Each year topics are presented to the Cadets for the prepared speech portion.

Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Communicating well is an essential skill in today's world.   A person will be called upon to speak to groups, big or small, in our social, professional or personal lives.
Every cadet will have the opportunity to learn public speaking. There is a competition within the squadron that may lead your cadet to the zone competition, then the provincials, followed by the nationals!
